Epiphone are one of America’s oldest guitar and musical instrument manufacturers; established in 1873 in what is now Turkey and originally specialising in fiddles and lutes, founder Anastasios Stathopoulos moved to America in 1903 where the company produced their first guitars in 1928. Throughout the 1930’s they built a reputation for excellence, and were considered to be among the best in the world. Although bought by the Gibson company in the 1950’s, they remain a brand to be reckoned with in their own right, with a catalogue of exclusive Epiphone electric guitars as well as more budget-friendly versions of popular Gibson models.
Epiphone electric guitars have been used by some of the most famous guitarists of the 20th and 21st centuries, including the Beatles, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, who have all made frequent use of their most famous model the Casino. Blues legend John Lee Hooker was also a devoted player of Epiphone electric guitars, mainly using a Sheraton throughout his career.
Whilst Epiphone’s exclusive models have a dedicated following, their Gibson copies are also excellent value; they produce a more modestly priced version of the famous Les Paul guitar which is visually and ergonomically similar to the Gibson and, in some models, comes very close to the same technical specifications to produce a stunning sound.
Modern Epiphone guitars offer excellent quality for their price, and easily live up to the company motto – “performance is our passion”. Whether you’re a beginner looking for a good quality first instrument, or a professional looking for an excellent performance instrument, they’re an ideal choice.
Whatever guitar you’re looking for, here at Complete Guitars we bring them all together in one place, making it easy for you to compare prices and find the right model for you.
